ARTIST BIO

Despite being an award-winning Illustrator, Jason Tharp perceives himself to be nothing more than a big kid who loves to provide levity and provoke laughter. Humor and adventure go hand in hand with Jason. If given the opportunity to choose his reincarnation, Jason would bypass the fame of the late, great cartoonist Tex Avery, his artistic hero, and return as a caveman. "Wouldn't it be cool to fight a dinosaur?" he says. It's this kind of simple, good-hearted humor that makes his art so candid and irrepressibly cheerful.

Jason's idea of an oasis isn't far away or exotic – it's not drifting back to the Stone Age to hang out with his favorite animated character Fred Flintstone. It's not zooming into the future to socialize with George, Judy, or Mr. Spacely of The Jetsons either. Instead, his passion and appreciation for animation and cartooning is at its peak within his own creative process.

Content in the here and now, Jason is happiest on a quiet night in his home, with a blank piece of paper, a sharp pencil, a piece or two of Extra spearmint gum, and a new idea in his head.

This big kid with a commensurately sized talent for creating amusing, colorful and uplifting illustrations is a former hamburger flipper, laborer, and salesman from Ohio who received his BFA from Columbus College of Art and  Design. Jason is the recipient of the Maggie Award, and other Illustrator honors.

Jason has been published in the Big Book of Illustration, has created graphics for major retailers, designed websites, has illustrated for children's books, medical and educational brochures, and much more. In addition to creating art and designing websites, Jason is founder and right brain of Corky Mansfield.

Jason loves a good peach pie, fancies Crest Whitening toothpaste, and lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Becky, their sons Dylan and Logan, and their cat, Zoe.
